Services for Adults

I offer specialist speech and language therapy services for adults with speech, language and communication difficulties, including DLD (Developmental Language Disorder).

These services are not available from the NHS in many areas at the moment.

Have you ever wondered, “Do I have language and communication difficulties?”

I can investigate your language and communication challenges and strengths with you. This is sometimes known as assessment.

This could be the first opportunity you have had to talk about this with someone who knows about speech, language and communication difficulties.

You may have DLD (Developmental Language Disorder).

People with DLD have difficulties with understanding and talking. It can also affect understanding of what you read and writing. This short video explains more:

DLD is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects 7% of the population.

You can find out more from the Raising Awareness of DLD website, here:
https://www.youtube.com/radld

…and from The DLD Project website, here:

This video tells you more about the experiences of adults with DLD:

DLD can occur alongside literacy difficulties or dyslexia, DCD (developmental co-ordination disorder) / dyspraxia, ADHD and autism.

Communication Support Groups

Teamwork,Embrace,4

You could join one of my small communication support groups. These give you an opportunity to share experiences and strategies with people with similar challenges and to develop your communication confidence.

Advocacy ServiceBridgeHaving language difficulties often makes it hard to explain to other people how this affects you and how they can help.

I can be there as a bridge to help you get this message across to:

  • Employers and colleagues
  • Health professionals / support services
  • Teachers / tutors
  • Family and friends
  • Support and benefits services
